What is Primary First Aid at Work Training?
Primary First Aid at Work (FAW) training is a comprehensive 3 day course designed to equip employees with the skills needed to respond to workplace emergencies. It covers a wide range of incidents, including injuries, illnesses, and life threatening situations. The course is particularly relevant in high risk workplaces such as construction and manufacturing. Course content
This course covers all the practical skills required by a First Aider in the workplace, providing delegates with the confidence and knowledge to cope with first aid situations.
During the course, we teach you about:
- The role of a first aider.
- Managing an emergency and situation assessments.
- Recording incidents and actions.
- Correct usage of first aid equipment.
- Preventing cross infection.
- Providing treatment for the bones, muscles, joints, spine, chest and eyes.
- Treating cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns/scalds, small splinters and sudden poisoning.
- Treating casualties who are unconscious (including seizure), choking, wounded, bleeding and/or in shock.
- Recognising the onset of major illness and providing appropriate treatment for heart attacks, strokes, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes and anaphylactic shock.
- Introduction to Automated External Defibrillators.
